The following documents are the latest comments that SCI submitted on October 22, 2007, to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in opposition to the proposed listing of the polar bear under the U.S. Endangered Species Act. The comments respond to the recent reports prepared by the U.S. Geological Survey on the polar bear. SCI has concluded that the speculative predictions in the new reports do not change the conclusion that the science does not support a listing under the ESA. SCI retained a modeling expert to analyze and comment on the validity of the modeling and conclusions of the USGS reports. SCI's comments explain SCI's position on the listing of the polar bear under the ESA and the USGS's recent reports on polar bears.
